DENSO navigation system tops list
Date: 2000-02-04

J.D. Power and Associates reports DENSO automotive navigation system ranks highest in U.S. customer satisfaction.

Detroit, Mich., Jan. 19, 2000, The first J.D. Power and Associates Navigation Usage and Satisfaction Study late last year ranked DENSO's factory-installed navigation system for vehicles highest in customer satisfaction.

Of the 10 navigation systems evaluated by U.S. consumers, the study found that DENSO's strong performance was a result of its ability to satisfy consumer requirements for route information accuracy, processing speed and making the system easy to use.

The study included more than 3,000 consumers who purchased or leased vehicles with a factory-installed navigation system last year.

According to J.D. Power and Associates, two-thirds of the study's respondents indicated they used their systems once or twice weekly, with 19 percent reporting they use it daily. The company said the three most popular reasons for use of the systems are:

- Finding the shortest routes to specific destinations;
- Work-related navigation;
- and Locating residential addresses.

In addition, they said many regular users are turning to their navigation systems to locate restaurants, retail stores and entertainment venues.

DENSO navigation systems are currently available in the following vehicles: Lexus GS Sedan, Lexus LS 400, Jaguar S-Type and the recently introduced Cadillac Seville. The navigation systems used in the former three models occupied the top three ranks in the study.

According to DENSO Corporation Director Mitsuharu Kato, "DENSO is aiming for a leading position in the worldwide automotive navigation system market which is expected to experience rapid market expansions."
