DENSO takes top honors at March of Dimes WalkAmeri
Date: 2001-05-01 For the eleventh year in a row, DENSO Manufacturing Michigan, Inc. (DMMI) took top honors at the March of Dimes WalkAmerica fund-raiser April 27 for collecting the most money in the Battle Creek area.
DMMI associates raised over $17, 883 for the charity, far surpassing the company’s goal of $15,000, and 79 associates walked at the six-mile event in support of the organization. The company also took the top position for money collected outside the Walk event, raising thousands of dollars throughout the year with internal fund-raisers, including the “Cutest Baby and Pet Contest,” an ice cream social and a 50/50 raffle.
“Our associates are by far the most giving people in Fort Custer,” said DMMI March of Dimes chairperson Tammy Chapman. “Without donations to the March of Dimes, premature babies might not have the chance at normal, healthy lives.”
The day before WalkAmerica, DMMI invited all associates to a pep rally for the March of Dimes, featuring a very special speaker. Associates met Aleigha Bracke, 3, who was born premature, and her mother, Amanda, who spoke about the March of Dimes in their lives. Bracke thanked DMMI for their participation and donations to the organization she credits with saving her daughter’s life.
