DMMI tops March of Dimes contributor list
Date: 2002-04-27 BATTLE CREEK -- For the 12th straight year, DENSO Manufacturing Michigan, Inc. (DMMI) raised the most money in the Battle Creek area for March of Dimes WalkAmerica fundraiser.
DMMI associates generated $19,390, nearly one-third of the entire amount raised during Battle Creek’s 2002 WalkAmerica locally.
“Once again, DMMI associates have shown overwhelming support for the March of Dimes,” said DMMI March of Dimes chairperson Dani Hartman. “I don’t think DMMI associates, despite the enormity of their contributions, realize how much of an impact their generosity has on expectant mothers and premature babies in the Battle Creek area.”
In addition to winning Top Team Overall, DMMI associate Rod Rizor won the Top Walker/Money Collected Award. The company also received recognition for the Biggest Wrap Around, raising thousands of dollars throughout the year with internal fund-raisers, including a “Cutest Baby and Pet Contest,” an ice cream social, candy and stuffed animal sales and a 50/50 raffle.
The day before WalkAmerica, DMMI invited all associates to a pep rally for the March of Dimes, featuring a very special visitor. Associates met Harris Johnson, 2, who was born 13 weeks premature, and his parents Jonathan & Carri, who spoke about the impact of March of Dimes in their lives. The Johnsons thanked DMMI associates for their participation and donations to the organization she credits with saving their son’s life.
