DENSO team earns trip to Japan
Date: 1998-10-30 A team from DENSO MANUFACTURING MICHIGAN, INC. (DMMI) took top honors at a Quality Circle competition held September 16-20, 1998, at DENSO SALES CALIFORNIA, INC. in Long Beach, California.
The North American Quality Circle Convention occurs each fall and determines who of North American DENSO companies and affiliates will earn the honors to present at the DENSO Global Convention held in Japan.
The Quality Assurance team took first in competition against over 14 other teams for the honor to present at the DENSO Corporation Global Quality Circle Convention to be held October 31, 1998.
Team members are Jacob Achatz, Dave Brodjeski, Dan Carpenter, Jon Cook, Vinod Domala, Dave Gawlak, Kristen Gleason, Jamie Heckman, Charles Herman, Pamela Herr, Mary Hottovy, Deb Kowalik, Phil Osterman, Matt Priebe, John Repyak, Dave Rudd, Jeff Scheuren, Jeremy Schumann, Mike Shelton, Patti West, Annette Zelenko. This team, “The Rescue Rangers,” worked on their QC to reduce evaporator plate shift scrap on the Toyota Sienna minivan model, from April 1997 to April 1998.
“The North American Quality Circle Convention was a great place to see some of the progress that is being made by other North American companies,” says Dan Carpenter, quality assurance engineer. “It was a tremendous honor to find out that we were one of the Benchmark Circles.”
Quality Circles are teams of employees that work to solve issues pertinent to their work areas. DMMI has used Quality Circles since 1986.
