DMMI Rewards Associate with New Van
Date: 2005-06-02 BATTLE CREEK, Mich.—Scott Standley, who has worked at DENSO Manufacturing Michigan Inc. (DMMI) for more than 15 years, will be recognized for his creative problem-solving to improve the DMMI workplace. During an award ceremony he will receive a new vehicle for his participation in the company’s suggestion program. “My wife and kids cannot wait to have a brand new van. The program is beneficial for us all, my job is made better and more efficient and my family has a new vehicle,” said Standley.
Since 1990, Standley, a Proficient Technician in the Quality Engineering area, has submitted 818 suggestions to DENSO’s BEAM (Because Every Associate Matters) program. The BEAM program is based on DMMI’s commitment to the continuous improvement of quality, processes and associate safety. The program encourages associates to identify opportunities for improvement and implement those ideas.
To win a vehicle, associates must earn 5,000 points for improving the workplace.
Rewards are given to associates based on points. As associates submit suggestions, their points accumulate. Rewards range from a $25 cash prize to a new car. The new van is not the first reward Scott has received; he has won three $1000 prizes that he has used to travel with his family. He has gone to a NASCAR race, to Colorado with his father elk hunting and just next week, he is taking his 13 year old daughter to Washington D.C.
DMMI will hold a recognition ceremony for Standley on June 3, during which he will receive the keys to his new vehicle, a 2005 Honda Odyssey.
