DENSO Contributes to Asian Tsunami Relief

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – DENSO’s North American headquarters, DENSO International America, Inc. reports that its parent company, Japan-based DENSO Corporation has pledged a total of $762,000 to the Japan Red Cross Society to aid in the recovery and rebuilding efforts of the affected countries. The gift was a combined donation from its domestic and international operations.

DENSO is currently conducting a worldwide audit on the whereabouts of its employees and their families to determine their safety. As of today, no casualties have been reported.

DENSO, the third largest automotive supplier in the world, employs 95,000 people in 31 countries including Thailand (2,000 people at five companies); Indonesia (2,500 people at four companies), and India (6,583 people at seven companies). All these companies produce automotive systems and components for customers in DENSO’s Asian/Oceania region.

In the Americas, DENSO employs 14,000 people at 33 companies. Since 1992, DENSO companies in North America and the DENSO North America Foundation have contributed a total of $639,000 (not including the latest tsunami donation) to the American Red Cross for disaster relief.
